Eagles Fall to Texas Woman’s in LSC Opener

DENTON, Texas – Oklahoma Christian women's soccer opened Lone Star Conference play Wednesday evening with a 2-0 loss to Texas Woman's at Pioneer Soccer Park. The loss moves the Eagles to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in LSC play.

Oklahoma Christian created several opportunities early in the match. Caid Jefferson put a pair of shots on goal within the opening 10 minutes, while Zoe Walker added another shot on target in the 11th minute. Jaycie Daggs and Jordan Tanges also generated chances as the Eagles recorded five shots and three corner kicks in the opening half.

The match remained scoreless until the 42nd minute, when Texas Woman's broke through to take a 1-0 advantage into halftime. 

 

OC continued searching for the equalizer in the second half. Rylan McIntyre and Daggs each had attempts early in the period before Jefferson put another shot on goal in the 62nd minute. Tanges added the Eagles' final attempt in the 81st minute.

 

Breanna Wooten turned in a strong performance in goal for Oklahoma Christian, recording a season-high 11 saves while playing all 90 minutes. Jefferson led the Eagles offensively with three shots, all three of which were on goal. OC finished the match with nine shots, including four on target.

 

Texas Woman's added its second goal in the 88th minute to secure the 2-0 final.

 

The Eagles will look to get in the win column in conference play, Saturday, September 12th at home with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
