Women's Soccer Pushes No. 12 Midwestern State in 2-1 Battle

Wichita Falls, Texas  - The Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team pushed nationally ranked No. 12 Midwestern State to the brink on Wednesday afternoon, falling just short in a high-intensity 2-1 Lone Star Conference battle.

How It Happened

The Eagles set an aggressive physical tone early in a tightly contested opening period. Oklahoma Christian created several quality dangerous opportunities, led by early shots on target from Rylan McIntyre (12') and Jaycie Daggs (25'), but Midwestern State goalkeeper Lauren Short was equal to the challenge, keeping the match scoreless going into halftime.

Midwestern State broke the dead-lock early in the second half when McKynzi Hailey found the bottom right corner of the net in the 50th minute off her right foot to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

Unfazed by the deficit, Oklahoma Christian fought back and turned up the pressure on the Mustangs' defensive third. The effort paid off in the 74th minute, Jenna Munson delivered a precise pass to Caid Jefferson, who slotted a right-footed strike into the bottom right corner of the net to equalize at 1-1.

The Eagles continued to press for the game-winner, forcing Short into another clutch save off a Munson strike in the 77th minute. However, Midwestern State capitalized on a late transition sequence in the 80th minute when Madison Brinkley scored off an assist from Jimena Rodriguez to reclaim a 2-1 advantage.

Oklahoma Christian mounted a strong final push, including a late shot from Adi Knocke in the 86th minute, and controlled possession down the final stretch, but the Mustangs held on through the final whistle.
