Tanges, McIntyre Lead Oklahoma Christian Past Angelo State 2-1, Make DII Era History

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Oklahoma Christian women's soccer used a relentless offensive attack and goals on both sides of halftime to secure a 2-1 victory over Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State on Saturday at the LeGrand Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 6-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in LSC play, while the Rambelles dropped to 1-6-3 overall and 0-4-2 in conference action.

Oklahoma Christian set the tempo early, controlling 57% of total possession and out shooting Angelo State 11-2 in the opening 45 minutes. The Eagles finally broke through in the 32nd minute when junior midfielder Jordan Tanges struck an unassisted ball past ASU goalkeeper Claire Stoermer to make it 1-0. The tally was Tanges' third goal of the season.

The Eagles picked up right where they left off in the second half. In the 61st minute, sophomore forward Rylan McIntyre found the back of the net unassisted for her second goal of the campaign, extending OC's cushion to 2-0.

Angelo State pushed back late in the period and brought the score within one in the 75th minute via an unassisted strike by defender Addison Brown. However, the Eagles' defense stood tall down the stretch, locking down the final 15 minutes to seal the 2-1 road win.

  • Oklahoma Christian outshot the Rambelles 22-5 overall and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on target.

  • Breanna Wooten earned the victory in goal for OC, playing all 90 minutes and recording three saves.

  • The Eagles generated significant continuous pressure, earning a 9-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

  • McIntyre led all players with seven total shots on the day, while Sophia Acuna added four shot attempts.

  • Today's win over Angelo State marks the program's first against ASU in the ten match history dating back to 1988. 

  • Oklahoma Christian is now on a three-game Lone Star Conference win streak, the first three-game conference win streak in the DII era.
