EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (5-5, 0-1) battled hard on its home floor against UT Dallas, forcing a 30-point set in set three, before falling to the Comets.
Set 1: 25-23, UTD
The Eagles jumped out to a fast start with early kills from Leah Duncan and Chloe Jones. After UT Dallas built a 22-15 lead late, OC refused to back down. Driven by strong serving from Macey Nehring and big blocks at the net from Lauren Cary and Kenzy McArtor, the Eagles went on a 4-0 run to erase multiple set points and pull within one at 24-23 before the Comets managed to close it out.
Set 2: 25-15, UTD
OC stayed close early thanks to steady swings from Leah Duncan and Summer Van Meerveld, including a service ace from Van Meerveld that kept the Eagles right in the mix. However, a late 10-0 run by UT Dallas proved to be the difference as the Comets took the second set.
Set 3: 33-31, UTD
Oklahoma Christian played its best volleyball of the night in a heart-pounding third set. Payton Cash came off the bench to direct a smooth offense, sparking a 5-0 run with killer swings from Chloe Jones and Molly Brunell to put OC ahead 19-16. The set stretched deep into extra points, with the Eagles wiping out six set points using clutch kills from Jones, Brunell, and Van Meerveld. UT Dallas finally scored the final two points to cap off an incredible 33-31 battle.
