No. 13 Softball Wins Ninth Straight in Two-Game Sweep

LAREDO, Texas - Jill Dickson recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts in game one in route to a two-game sweep of Texas A&M International, 6-2 and 2-1.

Dickson (9-2) faced just 22 batters in her six innings of work, allowing only three base runners during her time in the circle with one hit, a walk and a hit batter. Offensively, OC recorded its fifth straight double-digit hit outing with 10 base knocks, including two doubles and a home run.

Ella Resendiz (6-0) recorded her team-high fourth complete game of the season, matching her season-high with nine strikeouts while allowing just one run. Resendiz has tallied exactly nine strikeouts while allowing just one run in three of her last four complete games.

Madi Drummond, in what was just her fourth start of the season, closed out game one going 3-for-3 at the plate, including her first career home run, one RBI and two runs scored. Marti Yaerger matched Drummond's perfect day at the dish with her 2-for-2 opener.

No. 13 Oklahoma Christian (19-3, 11-1 LSC) will begin its trek back north before stopping in Kingsville for a doubleheader with the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville Sunday, Mar. 8 at 12 p.m.

Game One: No. 13 Oklahoma Christian 6, Texas A&M International 2
Dickson opened the first game of Friday's twin bill pitching a no-hitter until the bottom of the sixth inning, which is when TAMIU got its first base runner courtesy of a hit. Up to that point, the Eagles had opened a 6-0 lead, thanks to a four-run second which featured five hits.

Single runs in the fourth and fifth gave the Eagles their 6-0 lead, allowing for Kadence Brewster to enter the circle in the bottom of the seventh before OC took game one, 6-2.

Game Two: No. 13 Oklahoma Christian 2, Texas A&M International 1
The Dustdevils got on the board first in the day's latter contest, as OC did not claim its first hit until third inning, which is when the Eagles plated their first run off a TAMIU error to make the score, 1-1.

The International pitching kept the maroon-and-gray offense at bay with only one more hit over the next two innings before an inside-the-park home run from Kiley Brewster in the sixth gave the visitor's the edge it needed.

The game-tying run was put on second in the bottom of the seventh before a single forced a play at the plate. A throw in from left fielder Sydnee Seat to catcher Yaerger got the would-be tying run out at home, marking the third and final out for the 2-1 victory.
