No. 12 Softball Prevails Over St. Edward's for 3-1 Weekend

EDMOND, Okla. - Madi Drummond and Kallie Rupp each saw two-home-run games over the last two days as No. 12 Oklahoma Christian defeated St. Edward's Sunday, Mar. 29, 4-2 and 7-0.

In game two against St. Mary's Saturday, Mar. 28, Drummond hit two home runs for seven total RBI, including a grand slam, for the most single-game RBI by an Eagle since 2020. Rupp then took a page out of Drummond's book, recording two long balls in game one against SEU, including a two-run walk-off shot in bottom of the seventh in game one.

Ella Resendiz (8-0) picked up the win in game one against the Hilltoppers in three innings of relief work, holding SEU hitless while fanning four to just one walk. McKenna Ingram (6-3) picked up her second win of the week after shutting out St. Edward's in game two while allowing just four hits and posting a season-high seven strikeouts.

No. 12 Oklahoma Christian (29-8, 21-5 LSC) will have a rare two-game weekend up next when it heads south to Wichita Falls, Texas, for a two-game dual with Midwestern State Friday, Apr. 3 beginning at 2 p.m.

No. 12 Oklahoma Christian 4, St. Edward's 2
Oklahoma Christian saw just two hits through the first five innings, as St. Edward's loaded the bases on two different occasions during that stretch, but starting pitcher Jill Dickson worked her way out of the jam each time to keep the score at 0-0.

The Hilltoppers were able to bring two across the plate in the top of the fifth while still having all three outs to work with. Resendiz entered the game with the two-run deficit and retired the first three SEU batters she faced to keep the damage to two runs. After that, six of the next final seven St. Edward batters were retired.

Resendiz gave OC the wiggle room to see its first two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run home run from Rupp to tie the game, 2-2. Rupp, however, was not done yet, coming to the plate again in the seventh in the same situation. The Morrison, Okla., native delivered the walk-off shot over the outfield wall to give OC the 4-2 win.

No. 12 Oklahoma Christian 7, St. Edward's 0
A brief scoreless first inning gave way to OC's biggest inning of the day, scoring five runs on seven hits to take the commanding lead. With the five-run cushion, Ingram took over from inside the circle, allowing just three more hits over the final six innings while not allowing an SEU base runner to get past second base all game long.

Oklahoma Christian's second home run of the game came in the sixth as Maci George followed a Zyria Palmer single with her fourth home run of the season for the eventual final tally, 7-0.
