No. 12 Softball Tripped Up by No. 17 UCO, 5-2

EDMOND, Okla. - No. 12 Oklahoma Christian scored first Tuesday afternoon, but No. 17 Central Oklahoma outscored the Eagles the rest of the way, 5-1, as OC dropped the cross-town matchup, 5-2.

Jill Dickson (12-3) recorded her third-most strikeouts this season with 10, but did walk six batter while allowing five runs on seven hits.

Kiley Brewster recorded a team-high three hits while Ally McDougal followed with a pair of hits. Maci George matched Brewster by reaching base safely three times with a hit and a pair of walks. Kallie Rupp tallied her team-leading fifth home run of the season for the maroon-and-gray's only RBI of the evening.

After a three-up, three-down inning from Dickson that included two punch-outs, George got the Eagles on the board early with a bunt single that turned into OC's first run after a three-base throwing error from UCO's pitcher. Two more Eagles got on base with just one out, but the damage was kept at just one run.

A lead-off home run from the Bronchos in the second tied play at one, before Central Oklahoma scored three straight for the 4-1 lead. A two-out solo home run from Rupp cut into UCO's lead, 4-2, but a two-out double in the seventh offered a Central insurance run, 5-2.

Following singles from Ki. Brewster and Taryn Blazevich, the tying run was brought to the plate with two outs still to work with, but an unfortunate line-drive found the Bronchos' first-baseman's glove before eventually resulting in UCO's first double play of the contest.

No. 12 Oklahoma Christian (23-6, 15-3 LSC) will now take its longest road trip of the season when it heads to Alpine, Texas, to take on Sul Ross State Friday, Mar. 20 before heading to Silver City, N.M. to battle Western New Mexico Sunday, Mar. 22.
