EDMOND, Okla. -
Kallie Rupp recorded her sixth and seventh consecutive game with multiple hits while
Jill Dickson recorded her second complete game of the week as No. 12 Oklahoma Christian split Saturday's doubleheader with No. 8 Angelo State, 9-2 and 4-5.
Dickson (12-2), after recording nine strikeouts while allowing just two runs on three hits in game one against the Rambelles, finished her week with 21 strikeouts in 13 innings.
Kallie Rupp (5-for-9), while extending her multi-hit streak, finished the twin bill with five RBI as she now leads the team with 27 RBI. Kadence and
Kiley Brewster each tallied two hits in both ends of the doubleheader.
No. 12 Oklahoma Christian (23-5, 15-3 LSC) will take a brief break from conference play when it takes on cross-town rival No. 17 Central Oklahoma from Lawson Softball Complex Tuesday, Mar. 17 at 5 p.m.
Game One: No. 12 Oklahoma Christian 9, No. 8 Angelo State 2
After a quick three-up, three-down top of the first, Rupp started off her big day with a two-run home run to help put OC up after six outs, 3-0. Dickson did not allow a hit until the third inning before the Eagles opened a 4-0 lead after three innings of play.
Angelo State claimed two of its three hits in the top of the fourth to cut the maroon-and-gray's lead in half, 4-2, where it stayed until the sixth frame. After the fourth inning, however, Dickson did not allow another hit, holding the Rambelles offense at bay before the Eagles extended their lead to seven runs with a five-spot in the sixth.
All nine Eagle batters came to bat in the sixth as
Sydnee Seat got the big inning started with a lead-off triple before five runs came across the plate four hits later for the 9-2 lead. Down to their last three outs, the Rambelles were sat down in order yet again in the seventh, including the final two by way of strikeout.
Game Two: No. 8 Angelo State 5, No. 12 Oklahoma Christian 4
For the second time on the day, Oklahoma Christian opened a 4-0 lead before carrying the advantage into the fifth inning. Starting pitcher
Ella Resendiz allowed just one hit through the first four innings, but four hits from ASU, including a two-run homer, cut the Eagles lead to one, 4-3.
After Oklahoma Christian was forced to leave two base runners stranded in the fifth, Angelo saw its first lead of the day in the top of the sixth inning, plating two runs on just one hit and a fielding error for the 5-4 lead. Two more base runners were left on the base paths in the sixth before OC came to the plate with three outs to spare trailing just one run.
A lead-off double from Rupp in the bottom of the seventh preceded a
Madi Drummond bunt single as the maroon-and-gray immediately had two runners on with no outs. For the third straight inning, those two base runners stayed in the field as three straight outs granted the day's split.
