Game One: No. 13 Oklahoma Christian 8, Midwestern State 0 (5 inn.)
Midwestern State recorded two hits in the first inning and then just one more the rest of the game. Oklahoma Christian responded with at least one run in all four innings, starting with a Ki. Brewster RBI-single in the bottom of the first.
In addition to one more hit after the first inning, the Mustangs saw just two more base runners as OC doubled its first-inning output with a pair of runs in the second before its biggest frame of the early game. Holding a 3-0 lead, four runs came across the plate in the third, two of which came on two outs on a
Marti Yaerger triple and
Sydnee Seat single.
Another three-up, three-down inning put OC squarely in run-rule territory as a Ki. Brewster RBI-triple put the maroon-and-gray out ahead in the fourth, 8-0. Midwestern saw its first hit since the opening inning to lead off the fifth, but three straight outs ended things early at Tom Heath Field.
Game Two: No. 13 Oklahoma Christian 10, Midwestern State 2 (5 inn.)
The Mustangs matched their game-one hit total in the first inning, but this time brought two runs with it for the early 2-0 lead. That lead remained intact until the third inning, when OC saw its biggest half-inning of the afternoon.
After tying it up four batters into the third on an RBI-ground out from
Danae Lopez, the Eagles got four runs all on two outs, stringing together five straight hits to take the 6-2 lead. That lead ballooned to 10-2 as Resendiz, after entering the a third of the way into the third frame, retired the final six Mustang batters before a three-run fifth gave Oklahoma Christian the victory.
