TYLER, TEXAS. - Despite a solid showing from
Sofia Lopez, who shot 5-of-6 from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe tallying 15 points, Oklahoma Christian fell to UT Tyler
Thursday afternoon, 71-67.
The Lady Eagles also had two more players in double figures,
Taylor Jackson who notched 14 points and
Kenzie Willis who totaled 11 points on the afternoon bringing the total to 3 players who scored in double figures.
The maroon-and-gray were active on the glass as they out-rebounded the Patriots, 39-29, resulting in 17 second-chance points, which was seven more than UT Tyler.
Trailing by six points heading into the fourth quarter, Oklahoma Christian grabbed its first lead since the 7:51 mark of the third quarter with 4:10 left in regulation, 60-59. The Lady Eagles were held to just two more made field-goals the final four minutes of game action, however, as the Patriots pulled ahead for the four-point victory, 71-67.
Oklahoma Christian (9-14, 5-11 LSC) will return to the Eagles Nest as they take on St. Edwards Monday, Feb. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
