DALLAS, Texas - Oklahoma Christian only trailed the No. 2 team in the country by five heading into the half but a strong third quarter from Texas Woman's ultimately led to the Lady Eagles falling to the Pioneers, 70-51.
The maroon-and-gray were active defensively, forcing 17 turnovers against TWU, tallying seven straight games of 15 or more turnovers for their respective opponents. Trinity Dobbs led OC on the offensive end, totaling nine points while Sofia Lopez led the way defensively with four steals.
Texas Woman's opened a 9-0 lead four minutes into Thursday's game before Oklahoma Christian fought back to cut it to three heading into the second quarter, 15-12. The Lady Eagles responded to a brief double-digit lead for TWU before heading into the locker room trailing by five, 39-34.
A three-pointer from Dobbs brought the deficit down to two, 39-37, but OC did not score again until the 7:33 mark of the fourth quarter. Texas Woman's took advantage, building its lead to as much as 21 before taking the 70-51 victory.Â
Oklahoma Christian (9-13, 5-10 LSC) will travel to Tyler, Texas, as they take on UT Tyler Saturday, Feb.14 at 1:00 p.m.
