Eagles Sweep ‘Chaps in The Nest

EDMOND - Oklahoma Christian (9-8, 3-3 LSC) defended home court in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, securing a clean 3-0 sweep over Lone Star Conference opponent Lubbock Christian (8-9, 4-3 LSC) at the Eagles' Nest (25-19, 25-21, 25-19).

Oklahoma Christian showcased a balanced, high-powered offense throughout the afternoon, attacking at a blistering .339 clip with 49 total kills compared to just .153 for Lubbock Christian. Setter Summer Van Meerveld directed the Eagles' attack efficiently, distributing 26 assists to keep the Lady Chaps' defense on its heels. Kenzy McArtor anchored the frontline scoring with a team-high 11 kills while hitting .444, complemented by Alexis Moore, who notched 9 kills with an efficient .412 hitting percentage. On defense, libero Macey Nehring paced OC with a game-high 14 digs, while the Eagles produced 7.0 team blocks to slow down LCU's top hitters.

The opening set established the tone for Oklahoma Christian as the Eagles hit .405 as a team. OC snapped a mid-set tie behind a flurry of kills from Susanna Hodson and Chloe Jones to build a comfortable 16-9 advantage. Although Lubbock Christian attempted a late rally with kills from Camryn Blair, OC closed out the frame 25-19 on a timely strike from Hodson. Set two proved to be a closer contest, but the Eagles capitalized on LCU attacking errors and late-set scores by Moore and Molly Brunell to pull away down the stretch for a 25-21 victory.

Lubbock Christian came out aggressive in the third set, taking an early 6-2 lead behind consecutive kills from Blair. However, the Eagles responded with a 7-2 run to reclaim the lead, powered by key swings from McArtor and Emma Eyster. OC maintained control through the closing stretch, using a late string of LCU attack errors to set up match point before Jones delivered the decisive final kill to complete the set at 25-19 and seal the sweep. Blair led Lubbock Christian in the loss with 11 kills, while setter Camdyn Sears recorded 25 assists and 11 digs.
