KINGSVILLE, Texas - Oklahoma Christian University (9-9, 3-4 LSC) volleyball team dropped a hard-fought four-set decision (12-25, 25-23, 23-25, 18-25) to Texas A&M-Kingsville (14-5, 7-1 LSC) on Friday evening at the Steinke Center.
After dropping the opening set, Oklahoma Christian responded with great resolve in set two. A .256 hitting percentage and four service aces, led the Eagles rallied to claim a 25-23 victory and level the match. OC continued to battle in a tight third set that featured 10 tie scores, but the Javelinas pulled away late in sets three and four to secure the Lone Star Conference victory.
The Eagles' attack was spearheaded by Chloe Jones, who registered a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Kenzy McArtor chipped in 9 kills, while Jenna McClure made a strong impact with 8 kills and 15 digs. Summer Van Meerveld dished out 25 assists, with Emma Eyster adding 7 of her own.
Defensively, Oklahoma Christian held a strong presence at the net, out-blocking Kingsville 10.0 to 8.0 overall. Lauren Cary led the blocking effort with 6 block assists, while McArtor added 4 block assists. Macey Nehring bolstered the back row, collecting a team-high 27 digs alongside 6 assists and 2 service aces.
