EDMOND - Oklahoma Christian women's soccer beat UT Dallas 2-1 on Wednesday night in Lone Star Conference play, improving to 11-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the league.
Jenna Munson put the Eagles in front in the 34th minute. After a foul on UT Dallas goalkeeper Melyna Martinez, Munson sent the penalty kick into the bottom right of the net. It was OC's first penalty-kick goal of the season, and it beat Martinez, who had not allowed a goal in her last three matches. It was also Munson's eighth goal of the year, which ties Caid Jefferson for the team lead.
OC doubled the lead in the 67th minute when Jordan Tanges played a ball into the box that ricocheted off a Comets defender and found the back of the net.
UT Dallas answered in the 79th minute. Gabby Thompson converted a penalty kick into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1. The Comets, who had gone four matches without scoring entering the night, took three more shots in the final 11 minutes, but Breanna Wooten and the Eagles' defense held on. Wooten made two saves, including one on Maya Walker's shot in the 67th minute.
OC has won five of its last six, with a tie against UT Tyler, and has not lost since a 2-1 defeat at Midwestern State on Sept. 30.
