Eagles Take Set One Before Falling in Four Against Midwestern State

Midwestern State pulled off a tight four-set victory (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23) over Oklahoma Christian, driven by setting consistency from Macy Scheer and balanced scoring on the attack.

Set 1: Oklahoma Christian 25, Midwestern State 19

Oklahoma Christian took control midway through the opening set with an 8-1 run, highlighted by a Leah Duncan service ace and blocks from Alexis Moore, Molly Brunell, and Susanna Hodson, to build an 11-6 lead. Despite late kills from Aaliyah Toppin to close the gap, Kenzy McArtor put set point away off a Summer Van Meerveld set to claim set 1 for OC.

Set 2: Midwestern State 25, Oklahoma Christian 23

The second set saw back-and-forth action, featuring 10 ties and several lead changes. OC held a late 18-16 advantage before MSU surged back behind service pressure and a critical solo block by Wright on Moore to gain a 20-20 tie. MSU closed out the set on set point with a solo block from TaNia Penn to even the match at 1-1.

Set 3: Midwestern State 25, Oklahoma Christian 22

MSU established an early lead before Leah Duncan went on a service run for OC, landing three consecutive aces to give the Eagles an 18-16 edge. However, MSU capitalized on late attack errors and critical kills by Jaiden Wright and Isabella Dickens down the stretch to pull ahead and capture the third set 25-22.

Set 4: Midwestern State 25, Oklahoma Christian 23

A back-and-forth battle down to the wire in Set 4 saw OC rally with two late service aces by Emma Eyster to level the score at 22-22. MSU responded with a kill by Toppin to bring up set and match point at 24-23. Giselle Cazares then capped off the match with a walk-off service ace to secure the four-set win for Midwestern State.
