RICHARDSON, Texas - Oklahoma Christian senior Christian Yanovitch has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week following a standout performance at The National Preview, conference officials announced Thursday.
Yanovitch delivered an impressive 11-under-par performance (69-69-67—205) at the par-72 PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, to finish as the individual runner-up in a competitive 56-golfer field. He finished just two strokes off the top spot and held a two-stroke cushion over third place.
The Griswold, Connecticut native was locked in throughout the three-round event, recording 16 birdies and an eagle while dominating the long holes with a tournament-best 4.08 par-5 scoring average.
Yanovitch's 11-under 205 marks the lowest 54-hole total by any golfer in the Lone Star Conference so far this fall. With three sub-70 rounds in Florida, Yanovitch has now opened his OC career with six consecutive rounds under par.
This marks Yanovitch's first LSC weekly honor as an Eagle and the first Men's Golfer of the Week award for Oklahoma Christian this season.
The Eagles return to action next week at the Skip Wagnon Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma at KickingBird Golf Course, as they look to build on their strong fall momentum.
