KINGSVILLE, Texas - Oklahoma Christian battled back from seven down after the first quarter and then six down after three quarters, but Texas A&M-Kingsville prevailed late Sunday afternoon, 65-61.
The Lady Eagles matched their season high with four players in double figures, led by
Taylor Jackson (12) with her sixth consecutive double-digit scoring outing.
Elikya Baseyila followed Jackson with a season-high 10 points while also pulling down eight rebounds.
Trinity Dobbs matched Baseyila with 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting while also knocking down both of her free-throws. As a team, OC shot 41.3 percent (19-of-46) compared to a season-high 58.5 percent (24-of-41) for the Javelinas.
Similar to how Friday's first quarter went, Oklahoma Christian found itself trailing 18-11 after 10 minutes of action. Also reflective of the International contest, the maroon-and-gray climbed back and then some in the second quarter to the tune of a 33-27 halftime lead.
Kingsville delivered to the home Javelina crowd a dose of OC's second quarter, however, as a 23-11 third-quarter advantage put TAMUK back ahead with 10 minutes left to play, 50-44.
The Lady Eagles' defense allowed them to close the gap to 61-60 with 1:31 remaining in regulation, but could not connect on their final two field-goals as free-throws iced the game for Kingsville, 65-61.
Oklahoma Christian (5-8, 1-5 LSC) will play its first home games of 2026 Thursday, Jan. 8 at 5:30 and Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. against UT Permian Basin and Angelo State, respectively.
