Eagles Get 2-0 Win in Conference Opener Over St. Edward's

AUSTIN, Texas - In its first conference game of the 2025 campaign, Oklahoma Christian and goalkeeper Breanna Wooten posted their second clean sheet of the year with a 2-0 victory over St. Edward's. Both goals Wednesday night came courtesy of sophomore Caid Jefferson.

What Went Down
  • Jefferson got the Eagles on the board in the 26' for OC's second shot-on-goal attempt of the game, with the first coming from Sophia Acuna.
  • Sophia Placke nearly delivered an encore to Jefferson's goal less than 60 seconds later for the maroon-and-gray's third shot-on-goal of the first 27 minutes before play eventually went into halftime, 1-0.
  • 11 minutes into second-half action, immediately following Wooten's fourth save of the match, Jefferson, became the second Eagle this season to score two goals in a single match.
Notes
  • This is the third year in a row Oklahoma Christian has started 3-1-1 or better through the season's first five matches.
  • Wednesday is the second clean sheet OC has delivered against St. Edward's in the last three years.
  • Since losing 14 straight to the Hilltoppers, the Eagles have now two of the last three meetings against SEU.
  • With Jefferson's pair of goals, the sophomore from Yukon, Okla., is now tied with Placke with a team-leading three goals on the year.
  • Zoe Ross, who assisted on Jefferson's second goal of the match, has recorded an assist in back-to-back matches, becoming the first player since Ruta Andrews in 2023 to hold such a mark.
