Men's Golf No. 7 in Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Poll

NORMAN, Okla. - On the heels of its fourth consecutive trip to the national quarterfinals, the Oklahoma Christian men's golf program was ranked No. 7 nationally in the 2025-26 Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Preseason Poll.

The Eagles are the highest ranked Lone Star Conference team found inside the top-25, joining No. 13 St. Mary's and No. 22 Midwestern State. Topping the rankings is defending national champion West Florida with 13 of the available 15 first-place votes. No. 7 OC and No 8 Colorado Christian pick up the remaining two first-place votes.

Oklahoma Christian is the only team in DII to have reached the national quarterfinals each of the last four seasons. After heading into the final round of stroke play at last year's National Championships trailing eighth-place by eight strokes, OC clawed back to qualify for Medal Match Play.

Head coach David Lynn returns two golfers from last year's national quarterfinals in junior Vertti Perala and sophomore and Juan Repetto. Missing from the squad in 2025 will be All-America trio Leandro Mihaich, Oskari Nikku and Exequiel Rodriguez.

Accompanying V. Perala and Repetto among the returners is redshirt freshman Colin Richards, who became one of five OC golfers to ever make the cut at the OGA Oklahoma Open during their college career.

Making their way to Edmond, Okla., as newcomers are four freshman, including Francisco Bonavia from Marcos Juarez, Argentina, and Lenni Perala from Lempaala, Finland, as well as junior transfer Carson Lee from William Jewell and sophomore transfer Jake Yrene from New Mexico Junior College.

No. 7 Oklahoma Christian will open the 2025 fall season at the Shootout at PGA Riveria Maya in Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, hosted by Western New Mexico Sept. 28-30.
