EDMOND, Okla. - Current Oklahoma Christian men's golfers
Colin Richards and
Alex Rigby, along with four former Eagles, competed over the weekend at the 111th OGA Oklahoma Open hosted by Oak Tree Country Club.
Richards headlined the event for OC, making the cut at 4-under 136 before finishing in a tie for 34th with a 54-hole score of 1-over 211. Richards, who used a 4-under 66 in round one to help bolster his case to play on the final day of competition, is one of just five Eagles to ever make the cut at the Oklahoma Open during their college career and was one of seven amateurs in this year's field to play on the final day.
"What a week for [Colin]," head men's golf coach
David Lynn said. "It is extremely difficult to make any cut in a professional event for a college player. Playing well in the Oklahoma Open with touring pros from the PGA Tour and Kornferry Tour definitely should give Colin a huge boost in confidence and experience. I am extremely proud of all the hard work he has been putting in."
Fellow current Eagle
Alex Rigby also competed in the 143rd-man field, carding a 3-over 73 on the second round for his best 18 holes of the tournament. Other former Oklahoma Christian golfer's in the field included Rhein Gibson (3-under 207, T21), Alejandro Armijo (1-over 211, T34), Trevor Norby and Ethan Smith.
Head coach Lynn with Richards and Rigby will open the 2025 fall season with his team at the Shootout at PGA Riveria Maya in Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, hosted by Western New Mexico Sept. 28-30.
