AUSTIN, Texas - After being named the 2024-25 Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Academic Player of the Year,
Exequiel Rodriguez of Oklahoma Christian men's golf was named a College Sports Communicators Third Team Academic All-American, the CSC announced Wednesday, July 9.
This is Rodriguez' first time being named an Academic All-American with the CSC while earning the national academic honor through the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) the two previous years.
"The commitment that Exequiel exemplified on and off the course is the very cornerstone of who we want to be as a program," head men's golf coach
David Lynn said. "His desire to leave no stone unturned in order to be successful is very prevalent in all of his accomplishments. He was the daily example to our team to work hard and put 100% effort in everything he did."
Rodriguez completes his OC career as a four-time All-Conference selection, two of which came with a First Team tab while being named the LSC Men's Golfer of the Year, a three-time All-South Central Region honoree, a two-time Second Team All-American, a two-time LSC Men's Golf Academic Player of the Year and a three-time Academic All-American.Â
On the course, the Buenos Aires, Argentina, native finished the 2024-25 season ranked 15th in the South Central Region and 73rd in NCAA Division II according to Scoreboard powered by Clippd. Additionally, Rodriguez made his fourth appearance - all four of his collegiate seasons - at the NCAA DII National Championships, where OC reached the National Quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season.
"Exequiel is leaving a legacy of excellence that I hope our future Eagles will aspire to," Lynn said. "He began his career holing a 15-foot putt to send us to Medal Match Play in 2022 and he ended his career holing a 20-foot putt for eagle to send us to our fourth consecutive top-eight national finish. Exequiel relished the moment because he spent everyday preparing for it."
Rodriguez has the best score in relation to par in program history across 72 holes at the National Tournament for both a par 71 and par 72 course after shooting a 4-under 284 in 2023 and a 7-under 277 at the DII Championships in 2024. Both of those cards earned him top-five individual finishes.
