EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian welcomed No. 7 Texas-Tyler to Dobson Baseball Field for a four-game series, of which the Patriots took game one, 27-12.
Six Eagles claimed multiple hits, led by
Jontae Hennesy with three hits, including a triple.
Hunter Jones and
Michael Adair each reached base safely four times with two hits and two walks a piece.
With Jones' two hits, the senior catcher is now tied for the team-lead with 12 multi-hit games while
Reed Thomas logged his 27th consecutive game with getting on base.
How it happened
- The No. 7 team in the nation jumped out ahead early with a bases-clearing triple to open a 3-0 lead before closing the opening half-inning with the 4-0 advantage.
- Oklahoma Christian added two runs in the bottom of the first and again responded to a single UTT run in the third with another two-run frame to stay within one of the Patriots, 5-4.
- Tyler doubled its run total up to that point in the fourth frame with a 10-spot to take hold off a 15-4 lead. That lead was sustained until the seventh when play was called with the 27-12 final.
