Baseball Falls Late in Doubleheader Finale Against TAMUK, 10-9

EDMOND, Okla. - Following a 12-4 loss in the first game of the day, Oklahoma Christian led 9-3 after four innings before Texas A&M-Kingsville scored seven straight for the 10-9 finale victory.

Cason Gregory was the sole Eagle to claim hits in both games, finishing 3-for-7 (.429) with two RBI. Freshman Grant Voss made his first start of the season in game two, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while also working two walks to reach base five times.

Michael Adair spent time at the plate and on the mound through the two games, recording a hit in game one before taking the mound in relief in the latter contest, pitching two scoreless innings while claiming two strikeouts to earn the no-decision.

Oklahoma Christian (5-15, 5-15 LSC) will head to Austin, Texas, next for a four-game weekend series against No. 18 St. Edward's Mar. 14-16.

Game One: Texas A&M-Kingsville 12, Oklahoma Christian 4
The first three batters on each side were retired in order before Kingsville got on the board first with an RBI-single in the top of the second. Oklahoma Christian tied it up on a TAMUK wild pitch in the home-half of the frame, before the Javelinas opened it up with a six-spot in the third.

The Eagles added a second run in the fourth before Texas A&M-Kingsville added four runs in the fifth. A 12th and final run from TAMUK in the sixth was met with a final bases-loaded bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs before falling, 12-4.

Game Two: Texas A&M-Kingsville 10, Oklahoma Christian 9
Three lead changes highlighted the series finale. Following a two-run first inning from the Eagles to give them the early lead, Texas A&M-Kingsville used a three-run third only to have OC respond in turn with four runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-3 lead.

Oklahoma Christian extended that lead to 9-3 with three hits and the help of two TAMUK errors. The six-run lead would be the largest lead of the game before the Eagles were stricken with three errors over the next two-and-a-half innings as the Javelinas fought their way all the way back to take a 10-9 lead in the seventh inning.

The maroon-and-gray were unable to score another run the rest of the way as Kingsville claimed the one-run victory in the series finale.
