Dickson's No-Hitter Highlights Pitching Clinic in Pair of Shutouts

EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian pitchers Grace Anderson (8-2) and Jill Dickson (7-4) combined for 17 strikeouts in 11 innings of work, allowing two hits and zero runs as the No. 19 Eagles shut out Texas Permian Basin in the day's doubleheader, 12-0 and 4-0.

All two hits came with Anderson in the circle in game one as Dickson recorded her fourth career no-hitter in the day's latter game, accompanied by 12 strikeouts to round out the career performance. Of her four career no-hitters, her last coming March 29, 2024, the junior's 12 strikeouts are the most strikeouts she has seen with the pitching benchmark.

Marti Yaerger extended her hitting streak to 11 games with back-to-back single-hit outings. In addition to Yaerger, Kallie Rupp (3-for-6) and Victoria Brazil (3-for-4) claimed hits in both games. Brazil, who has now claimed a hit in four of the last five games, added two RBI in the game one run-rule victory.

No. 19 Oklahoma Christian (15-7, 8-6 LSC) will have a day off before coming back to Lawson Softball Complex for a Sunday doubleheader against Sul Ross St. starting at 12 p.m.

Game One: Oklahoma Christian 12, Texas Permian Basin 0 (5 inn.)
Texas Permian Basin's lead-off hitter reached base with a walk, and then the Falcons saw two more base runners the rest of the game. Following the lead-off walk, Anderson struck out each of the next four UTPB batters spanning into the second inning.

Oklahoma Christian matched Permian Basin with their own lead-off walk as Yaerger came around to score three batters later on a wild pitch. The 1-0 lead grew to a 6-0 advantage after two innings of play with OC's six-hit, five-run second, culminating in back-to-back doubles from Brazil and Kate Paulsen for runs five and six.

Permian Basin claimed its first hit of the game in the third, and again in the fourth, but neither runner got as far as second. Meanwhile, the Eagles claimed its second big inning with six runs off four hits and a UTPB fielding error in the bottom of the fourth. Kadence Brewster used a triple paired with a Falcon error to bring OC's total from nine to 12.

Game Two: Oklahoma Christian 4, Texas Permian Basin 0
Neither team claimed a hit through the first two and a half innings as both pitchers found themselves dealing early in the contest. While OC's first hit came courtesy of a Rupp single in the third, the first run did not come across the plate until the bottom of the fourth inning.

Following a lead-off single from Maci George, George put the Eagles on the board moments later on a UTPB passed ball for the 1-0 lead. The maroon-and-gray added two runs to their lead with a Yaerger triple and George single in the fifth.

Madi Drummond, who pinch-hit for Kiley Brewster in the bottom of the sixth, recorded an RBI for the fourth run of the game, leaving Dickson three outs away from making history for the fourth time in her OC career. Two of the final three outs came via strikeout as Dickson matched her season-high with 12 strikeouts and her fourth career no-hitter.
