No. 19 Softball Posts Two-Game Shutout for Perfect Weekend

EDMOND, Okla. - No. 19 Oklahoma Christian followed up its doubleheader shutout against Texas Permian Basin with a combined 15-0 score across two games against Sul Ross State Sunday afternoon from the Lawson Softball Complex. The Eagles have now allowed just one run in their last six wins.

Pitchers Grace Anderson (9-2) and Jill Dickson (8-4) finished the weekend with two wins a piece and a combined zero allowed runs. Dickson, after recording her fourth career no-hitter against UTPB, let SRSU have two hits in five innings of work in game two, finishing her two appearances with 19 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Victoria Brazil continued her recent success with two hits in both contests, hitting .571 (4-for-7) on the day with one RBI and two runs scored. The Brewster sisters combined to go 5-for-6 (.833) with five RBI.

No. 19 Oklahoma Christian (17-7, 10-6 LSC) will now meet St. Edward's and St. Mary's on the road for a pair of doubleheaders Friday, Mar. 14 and Sunday, Mar. 16, respectively.

Game One: No. 19 Oklahoma Christian 8, Sul Ross State 0 (5 inn.)
Sul Ross posed the biggest threat to open the scoring in game one, loading the bases on one out in the top of the second. Grace Anderson forced the next two outs, however, with a strikeout and a hard hit line-out to third baseman Maci George to nullify the threat.

An inning later, OC capitalized on the game's second biggest scoring opportunity, scoring six runs on five hits while Karsyn Iltis worked two walks in the same frame. For the Lobos, they saw just one more base runner after their bases-loaded second frame.

Holding a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles ended the game early after four batters, with Kate Paulsen and Kiley Brewster bringing in the final two runs for the 8-0 final.

Game Two: No. 19 Oklahoma Christian 7, Sul Ross State 0
In the day's latter game, Sul Ross immediately posed a threat, loading the bases for the second time of the afternoon, this time in the first inning. After allowing a walk, single and hit-by-pitch, Dickson came through with two strikeouts to end the threat unscathed.

As it did in the first game, OC took advantage of SRSU's missed opportunity with two runs in the bottom of the second followed by four runs in the fourth while the Lobos remained scoreless. Kadence Brewster recorded three RBI during that stretch, met with Marti Yaerger's two-RBI triple for the 6-0 lead.

A single run courtesy of Kallie Rupp in the home-half of the fifth brought the Eagles one run within a run-rule victory, but Sul Ross remained in contention. Three SRSU runners reached base over the next two innings before relief pitcher Ka. Brewster closed the final two frames to maintain the 7-0 win.
