EDMOND, Okla. - No. 18 Oklahoma Christian won its fifth and sixth consecutive home conference game of the season Friday evening, defeating Texas Woman's, 2-0 and 6-1.
Jill Dickson issued a complete-game, one-hit shutout while also picking up 10 strikeouts in game one while the OC offense managed nine hits for six runs in the Eagles' largest victory over TWU since 2022.
Maci George (3-for-5) and
Kallie Rupp (3-for-4) led OC at the plate in the twin bill with three hits each, while George added two runs scored and an RBI.
Kadence Brewster recorded three RBI despite claiming just one hit, including an RBI on a sacrifice fly to put OC ahead in game one.
No. 18 Oklahoma Christian (21-11, 14-8 LSC) will have one day off before hosting NFCA No. 1 UT Tyler in a doubleheader Sunday, Mar. 23 beginning at 1 p.m.
Game One: No. 18 Oklahoma Christian 2, Texas Woman's 0
Dickson retired the first 11 Pioneers in order while TWU did not claim its first hit until the sixth inning. The half-inning prior to that first hit, Ka. Brewster sent an RBI-sacrifice fly to right field to score George before a fielding error scored the Eagle pitcher.
The Pioneers' lone hit was met with a walk to give TWU two base runners in the top of the sixth before Dickson got the final two outs via strikeout. As she had the first three innings, the Edmond, Okla., native worked three-up, three-down to clinch the game-one victory, 2-0.
Game Two: No. 18 Oklahoma Christian 6, Texas Woman's 1
Unlike game one, Texas Woman's led off game two with a hit before not seeing another base-knock until the fourth inning. Oklahoma Christian was quicker this time around to take advantage of the stellar pitching, using a George RBI-sacrifice fly to start the scoring at 1-0 in the bottom of the second.
The Pioneers got their first score of the day in the fourth inning with a two-out RBI-double for the 1-1 tie. Play stood at the deadlock until the bottom of the fifth when, following a Ka. Brewster RBI-single off a Rupp lead-off double, true freshman
Marti Yaerger sent her first collegiate home run to build a 4-1 OC lead.
The Eagles added two insurance runs in the maroon-and-gray's final half-inning as TWU fell victim to its second three-up, three-down seventh frame to give OC the two-game sweep.
