EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (7-14, LSC 4-13) hosted Texas A&M International (5-18, LSC 4-13) on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8th. With the temperature dropping outside, the action in the Nest was heating up as Nakia Cullom dropped a career-high 21 points to push the Lady Eagles past the Dustdevils and claim the season sweep over the team from Laredo, Texas.
First Quarter - TAMIU 22 - OC 13
The Dustdevils blew in from Ladredo and scored 22 points on the Lady Eagles in the first quarter. Trinity Chears, the team-leading scorer, went 5-6 from the field and scored 11 points.
The Lady Eagles' trio of seniors battled hard to keep OC within striking distance. Kate Bradley, Nakia Cullom, and Jordan Francisco combined for 13 points, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the field.
Second Quarter - TAMIU 36 - OC 33
As the second quarter began, the tides began to turn. The Lady Eagles began to heat up on the field and went a perfect 5-5 from the foul line, while the Dustdevils struggled to score outside the foul line.
TAMIU, thanks to their 8-9 effort at the foul line in the second quarter, managed to enter halftime with a 36-33 lead over OC, despite being out-scored in the quarter 20-14.
The Lady Eagles' great second quarter was due in large part thanks to a 10-point effort from Bradley.
Third Quarter - TAMIU 44 - OC 51
The Lady Eagles came out of the locker room and dominated the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Reagan Berry continued to find her role increasing with the team, dropping eight and helping the Lady Eagles take the lead from the Dustdevils.
The Lady Eagles would enter the fourth quarter with a seven-point lead over Dustdevils, looking to close in on a win.
Fourth Quarter - TAMIU 61 - OC 71
Nakia Cullom took over the game and shut down any chance for the visiting to find a way back into the lead. Cullom finished with a fourth-quarter 10-point performance to cap off her career-high 21-point night and give the Lady Eagles the 71-61 home LSC victory.
