No. 20 Oklahoma Christian (8-4, 1-3 LSC) will return home for a pair of doubleheaders against Midwestern St. and No. 11 West Texas A&M Friday, Feb. 21 and Sunday, Feb. 23.
GAME ONE: (RV) Lubbock Christian 12, No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 4 (6 inn.)
Oklahoma Christian took the early lead in this one with two runs in the top of the second inning off a Ki. Brewster RBI-double and an LCU fielding error. Five Lady Chaps batters later, after an OC fielding error scored the home team's first run, the lead switched hands with grand slam to put Lubbock ahead, 5-2.
A second home run in the second inning but Oklahoma Christian back six runs, 8-2. The Eagles were able to get single runs back in the fourth and sixth inning, but LCU met those single runs with two runs as the Lady Chaps took the first game of the doubleheader, 12-4.Â
GAME TWO: No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 8, (RV) Lubbock Christian 4
As it did in the first game of the day, Oklahoma Christian started off the scoring, this time with a four-piece in the top of the second with a two-RBI single from
Kallie Rupp followed by a two-RBI single from
Marti Yaerger.
This time, LCU was forced to wait for OC to add an insurance run in the third before cutting into the deficit with a two-run third to bring the score to 5-2. The score remained untouched over the next three innings with neither pitcher allowing a hit during that time.
Anderson broke the scoring hiatus with an RBI-double before Davidson extended the maroon-and-gold's lead for the final time with a two-out, two-RBI single to bring the score to 8-2. Lubbock used its only home run of the game to cut the lead to four before a ground-out and strikeout put the game on ice for OC, 8-4.
