How it happened
- Oklahoma Christian recorded eight of its 20 hits in the first inning for 11 runs, seeing three LCU pitchers in the first frame. Six of OC's first seven batters reached safely, including Hennesy twice, tallying a double and a single before the Chaparrals even came to bat.
- Â Lubbock put up its own crooked number in the first inning with four runs off four hits while OC maintained an 11-4 lead.
- The Eagles added runs in each of the next three innings while Lubbock added three runs at once in the third to bring a 15-7 lead into the fifth inning.
- Oklahoma Christian's first scoreless inning came in the fifth following by a single run in the sixth as the Chaparrals scored six runs between the fifth and seventh frame to cut into the maroon-and-gold's lead, 16-13.
- Clifton entered into the game in the eighth, holding the Chaparrals to one hit before two runs came in the ninth. Now sporting a one-run lead with one on and one out, LCU brought the game-winning run to the plate before Clifton forced a double-play to clinch the victory.
