LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma Christian opened a 5-0 lead through the first three and a half innings before both teams combined to score 20 runs over the remaining five and a half innings. Lubbock Christian got the edge after the scoring barrage to take the series opener, 13-12.

Elijah Laus matched the most hits by an OC player since 2023, recording four hits in five at-bats while also logging five RBI, two of which came on one swing of the bat with his first career home run as an Eagle.
Catcher
Hunter Jones joined Laus with a home run, finishing his day going 1-for-3 at the plate while also working two walks.Â
Sloan Laird and
Cason Gregory were the two other Eagles to register multiple hits in game one against LCU.
How it happened
- After both teams combined for just one hit through the first two innings, Oklahoma Christian plated four runs in the top of the third off a two-RBI homer from Laus, a two-out solo shot from Jones and an RBI-double from Justin Spencer.
- Laus' third RBI came with OC's fifth run of the game for the 5-0 lead. Lubbock cut into the Eagle lead for the first time with a single run in the bottom of the fourth.
- For the third consecutive inning, Oklahoma Christian added to its total, plating another two runs before the Chaparrals made their move. Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth, LCU scored five of its six runs with two outs against them as the home team knotted it up, 7-7,.
- The hits continued to come for Lubbock as another four hits came in the home-half of the sixth for a 12-7 lead. The Chaparrals reached their total with an insurance run in the seventh for the 13-7 lead.
- The Eagles fought back with their first runs since the fifth inning, plating three runs off two hits and an LCU error in the top of the eighth. Now trailing by three runs, OC nearly completed the comeback with two more runs in the top of the ninth before a strikeout forced the maroon-and-gold to leave two runners on base.
