TYLER, Texas—Oklahoma Christian (6-13, LSC 3-12) finished a four-game road stretch on Saturday, Feb. 1st, in Tyler, Texas, to take on the No. 7 Patriots of UT Tyler. Despite a competitive first half, the Patriots took control in the second half to defeat the Lady Eagles, handing them a 50-78 road loss.
First Quarter
The seniors led the Lady Eagles, keeping them in a close match with the Patriots. They combined for all 13 of OC's points, with Nakia Cullom stepping up and dropping eight points in the opening frame of play. The Lady Eagles went to the bench down only two points.
The Lady Eagles dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the top-10 Patriots in the first quarter 10-4.
Second Quarter
UT Tyler jumped out in the second quarter, working their way up to a double-digit lead before Kate Bradley and Cullom led the Lady Eagles on a run, pulling within a possession midway through the second quarter.
The Patriots' defense put pressure on the Lady Eagles, causing them to turn the ball over eight times and finish off the half on an 8-2 run over the Lady Eagles to enter halftime with a nine-point lead.
Third Quarter
The Patriots showed why they are a top-10 team, dropping 24 points in the third quarter and holding the Lady Eagles to under ten points, sending the game into the final quarter with a 24-point lead.
Fourth Quarter
The Lady Eagles did not throw in the towel, dropping 18 points in the final quarter, led by seven points from Trinity Dobbs, who went 5-6 from the foul line in the quarter.
Despite the better play from the OC's offensive, UT Tyler's depth was the difference maker as the Patriots benched outscored the Lady Eagles' total offensive 22-18.
With Kate Bradley's 13 points today, she now sits with 998 career points, looking to join the elite club of 1000-point scorers Thursday night in the Eagle's Nest.
