Taylor Jackson scored a season-high 19 points on 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) shooting, but Oklahoma Christian fell to Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon, 63-50.
After trailing at halftime, 33-22, the Lady Eagles played ENMU even in the third quarter before eventually only losing the second half by two, 30-28.
Oklahoma Christian out-shot Eastern New Mexico, 44.2 percent (19-of-43) to 32.8 percent (19-of-58) and won the points-in-the-paint battle, 30-18. Where Eastern saw the advantage was points off turnovers (19 to 9) and free-throw shooting (71.4 percent to 50.0 percent).
Jackson was the lone maroon-and-gray player to score in double figures while also adding eight rebounds, one block and one steal to her game-high 19 points.
Ahniya Melton followed Jackson with seven points, three rebounds and one steal in just 12 minutes of action.
The contest's three lead changes all took place within the first four and a half minutes of game play. The score was tied at the 4:09 mark of the opening period before ENMU closed the first 10 minutes on a 6-0 run for the 13-7 lead after one quarter of play.
The first five points of the second quarter went the way of the Greyhounds for their first double-digit lead of the afternoon. Oklahoma Christian was able to get deficit back to single digits on several occasions, including a 6-1 run in the third to bring the score to 36-30, but ENMU prevailed inside the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena, 63-50.
Oklahoma Christian (4-4, 0-2 LSC) will return home to the Payne Athletic Center where OC is 4-0 this season as No. 4 Lubbock Christian meets the Lady Eagles Thursday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m before facing Midwestern State Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m.
