EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian held No. 3 Lubbock Christian to its fewest points in a conference game since last season's second-to-last regular season contest, but the Lady Chaparrals prevailed late, 63-55.
After trailing by as much as 14 in the third quarter, OC cut it to two with 1:48 remaining in regulation, but an immediate three-pointer from Lubbock proved to be the final blow as LCU closed the game on an 8-2 run.
Taylor Jackson recorded her second straight game with at least 15 points and eight rebounds while
Sofia Lopez followed with 12 points as well as grabbing three steals and three rebounds, all of which came on the offensive end.
Oklahoma Christian held the Lady Chaparrals to just six made three-pointers, which was tied for their season low, but the Lady Eagles themselves managed just two triples.
The maroon-and-gray found themselves in an early hole, trailing 17-9 after one quarter of play, but matched LCU the rest of the way, 46-46. After the aforementioned 14-point third-quarter deficit, OC closed the third period on a 13-6 run, capped off by an
Allyah Leusogi-Ape trey in the waning seconds to bring the Lady Eagles within seven with 10 minutes left to play.
Despite the fight OC displayed, LCU shot 7-of-10 from the free-throw line in the game's final six minutes to hold off the Lady Eagles, 63-55.
Oklahoma Christian (4-5, 0-3 LSC) will return to the Payne Athletic Center Saturday, Dec. 13 when Midwestern State tips off with the maroon-and-gray at 1 p.m.
