NAMPA, Idaho - Despite leading by one at halftime, Oklahoma Christian dropped its first game of the 2025-26 season on the road at Northwest Nazarene Saturday night, 93-83.
Miles Gibson finished off his week in Idaho averaging 24.5 points per game after recording 22 against NNU. In game two of the Classic, Gibson's team-high 22 points came on 8-of-11 shooting while knocking down all six free-throws along with grabbing six rebounds.
Jason Clark made a season-high four three-pointers before adding two other field-goals and three free-throws for 19 points.
Elijah Bailey poured in 20 on 5-of-9 shooting while hitting 10 of his season-high 14 free-throw attempts and adding six assists.
Both teams shot 54 percent from the floor for the contest, with OC seeing the three-point percentage edge, 54.5 percent (6-of-11) to 42.1 percent (8-of-19). The NIghthawks did, however, dominate the battle at the free-throw line, 90 percent (27-of-30) to 67.6 percent (23-of-34).
Both squads matched each other shot-for-shot through the first part of the opening half as play stood at a standstill at the 9:44 mark, 22-22. A quick 6-2 run from Northwest Nazarene was met by an 8-0 OC run gave the Eagles the lead heading into the break, 38-37.
The opening 10 minutes of second-half action saw eight lead changes before NNU took the lead for good with 9:29 reading on the clock, 60-59. From there, the Nighthawks mounted a 10-0 run to see the game's largest lead, 70-59.
Oklahoma Christian was able to cut the deficit back down to five with just over a minute left, but free-throw shooting grew the lead back to double digits before the final buzzer, 93-83.
The Eagles (4-1, 0-0 LSC) will now begin conference play in the Lone Star State against No. 15 West Texas A&M Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. before facing Eastern New Mexico Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. MT / 4 p.m. CT.
