Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - In its first road game of the season, a late-game bucket sunk Oklahoma Christian against Newman Tuesday evening, 66-64.
The Eagles were stricken with 26 turnovers, which NU scored 24 points off of while OC managed just 13 points off the Jets' 13 turnovers.
Allyah Leusogi-Ape led OC with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and three free-throws while
Taylor Jackson (15) and
Kenzie Willis (11) secured their third-straight double-digit outing to start the season.
The lead changed hands several times through the first few minutes before Oklahoma Christian built a three-point lead after one quarter of action, 14-11. That lead grew to nine at the break before the Eagles saw their biggest lead of the game of 11 points at the 5:34 mark of the fourth quarter, 56-45.
The maroon-and-gray were unable to put NU away for good, however, as three missed free-throws and four turnovers in the final five minutes of game action allowed the Jets to chip away down the final stretch before an and-one with 10 seconds remaining gave the home team its first lead since the 5:43 mark of the first quarter.
Oklahoma Christian (2-1, 0-0 LSC) will return home to face Christian Brothers Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. CT.
