JONESBORO, Ark. - In its second tournament of the 2025 fall season, Oklahoma Christian men's golf finished day one of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate hosted by NCAA Division I program Arkansas State in 10th place with 36-hole score of 23-over 599.
The Eagles currently lead a pair of DI programs in Lindenwood (27-over 603) and Tennessee State (34-over 610). Leading the 12-team field is the host Red Wolves with a 17-under 559.
After posting a 16-over 304 in the first round, the maroon-and-gray turned around and fired a 6-over 295, which was tied for the sixth best second-round of the field.
Lenni Perala was the biggest reason for the Eagles' second-round improvement as the true freshman carded a 1-under 71 on the second 18 as he is currently tied for 24th at 4-over 148.
Juan Repetto sits a stroke back of L. Perala at 5-over 149 following rounds of 2-over 74 and 3-over 75, where he is tied for 33rd.
Vertti Perala joined his brother with the top second-round scores on the team with a 1-over 73 to climb 10 spots for a slot at 36th.
Kyler Hemelstrand (T53) and
Jake Yrene (66)Â round out the Eagle five-some on day one with a 10-over 154 and 15-over 159, respectively.
The best golfer of the day donning the OC was
Alex Rigby, who is playing as an individual, as the sophomore is tied for 15th with a 36-hole score of 2-over 146. After an opening-round 6-over 78, the Vancouver, Wash., native tallied six birdies compared to just two bogeys the second time through the course for a 4-under 68, tied for the second best round of anyone in the 72-player field.
Francisco Bonavia was the second Eagle to compete as an individual, finishing his season debut with a 13-over 157 and holding a spot at 61st.
Oklahoma Christian will return to Ridgepoint Country Club for the final round Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8:30 a.m.Â
