LAWTON, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian women's volleyball rattled off its 12th straight set and fifth consecutive victory Tuesday, Oct. 28, in a 27-25, 25-22, 25-15 triumph over Cameron.
The win marks the most consecutive wins in Lone Star Conference contests in program history for the Eagles. Additionally, after dropping the opening set to Texas A&M International, OC has won 12 straight sets, which is also the longest streak in LSC play in program history.
Libero
Macey Nehring led the Eagles back line with 20 digs, averaging just under seven digs per set on the evening, followed by
Chloe Jones with 14 digs. Jones added eight kills while
Camryn McGough led the way with nine kills as both Jones and McGough recorded four block assists.
Cameron opened play by scoring the match's first four points before growing that lead to 22-18. With CU three points away from taking the first set, a 4-0 run from the Eagles gave the match its first tie at 22-22. The Aggies regained the advantage one more time with match point at 25-24, but three straight from the maroon-and-gray gave OC the early lead.
Play saw another late tie in the second set as both teams remained at the other's hip to the tune of 21-21. This time, the Eagles mounted a 4-1 run to take the second frame, 25-22. With Oklahoma Christian having snatched all the momentum after taking the two tightly contested frames, OC claimed its most lopsided set victory of the night at 25-15 for its record fifth straight LSC win.
The Eagles (15-7, 7-4 LSC) now bring their five-match win streak back to the Payne Athletic Center, where they will host St. Edward's Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. and then St. Mary's Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
