LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma Christian won the opening set against Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon, 25-16, yet the Lady Chaparrals prevailed by taking the next three for the win, 25-17, 25-19, 25-16.
The Eagles hit .244 in the first set compared to just .045 in the final three sets while LCU hit .272 in the final three stanzas compared to .103 in the opener.
Katy Geurin delivered a season-high 15 kills to lead OC while
Lauren Cary spearheaded the Eagle defense with eight blocks, which is tied for the third-most ever in a four-set match.
Oklahoma Christian opened play scoring 11 of the first 13 points before running away with the first set 25-16. The Eagles kept it up with the first two points of the second, but LCU stayed with OC before pulling away with a 7-2 run in route to a 25-17 second-set triumph.
Now tied, the Lady Chaparrals obtained the momentum it needed as they won the final two sets, 25-19 and 25-16. Lubbock used two separate 8-0 and 8-1 runs in the third and fourth set, respectively, to claim its second victory over Oklahoma Christian on the year.
The Eagles (10-6, 2-4 LSC) will take another brief hiatus from conference play when they head to Bethany, Okla., to take on Southern Nazarene Tuesday, Oct. 14 before hosting Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International inside the Payne Athletic Center Friday and Saturday.Â
