Five Lady Eagles in Double-Figures Propel the Team to Road Win Over Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas—Oklahoma Christian (6-6, LSC 3-5) claimed its first win in 2025 with a dominating final quarter against the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International (2-11, LSC 1-6) Thursday evening in Laredo, Texas. 

First Quarter - OC 11 - TAMIU 13

The Dustdevils jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the game's first few minutes before Kate Bradley scored a three-pointer in the corner to open things up for the Lady Eagles.  

The game would develop slowly for both teams in the first quarter, with a low-scoring opening frame. 

Second Quarter - OC 32 - TAMIU 28 

The Lady Eagles found their advantage in the game, dominating the below-the-basket, putting 16 points in the paint in the second quarter alone. Led by Jordan Francisco and Elikya Baseylia, Oklahoma Christian took the lead from the Dustdevils and went into the half with a two-possession advantage. 

Third Quarter - OC 44 - TAMIU 42

As play started after the break, TAMIU put their foot on the gas, jumping out on a 7-2 run. Early in the second half, they took the lead away from OC, but the Lady Eagles settled in and began to regain control of the game. 

Oklahoma Christian took control of the game late in the third quarter, dominating the game in the paint. OC regained the lead and extended to a few possessions before the horn to end the third quarter. 

Fourth Quarter -  OC 65 - TAMIU 52

The Lady Eagles left the huddle to enter the fourth quarter and, with a complete team effort, put the game away, out-scoring the Dustdevils 21-10 in the final ten minutes of play to pick up a big conference road win to get the Lady Eagles back in the win column. 

The total team wins were highlighted by dominating in every statistical category, including 14 assists, 39 rebounds, 22 second-chance points, and 48 points in the paint. 

Notes 

  • Ciara Harris - The talented freshman finished a great night with a career-high 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 

  • Kate Bradley - knocked down clutch threes at the correct times to bring energy to OC on the court, finishing with 12 points, going 3-6 from long range, three rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals. 

  • Nakia Cullom - The senior leader continues to be a steady source of production, finishing just shy of a double-double tonight with 10 points, nine rebounds, a block, and four steals. 

  • Jordan Francisco - The veteran forward created opportunities for everyone on the floor tonight, finishing with 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal. 

  • Elikya Baseyila - The spark the Lady Eagles needed off the bench, with incredible production in her 20 minutes of play, adding 17 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles will drive just over two hours from Laredo, TX, to Kingsville, TX, to face off with Texas A&M-Kingsville in a Saturday, Jan. 11th afternoon matchup with the Javelinas beginning at 1 p.m.
