Men's Basketball Tripped Up by No. 10 DBU, 92-77

EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian ended its five-game home stand Sunday afternoon with a 92-77 defeat at the hand of No. 10 DBU inside the Payne Athletic Center.

The Eagles were struck with 25 turnovers as the Patriots scored 28 points off of turnovers compared to just 15 such points for OC. That proved to be the difference in the game as the maroon-and-gold actually bested DBU with a 47.2 field-goal percentage, though DBU did make nine more field-goals than the Eagles, including seven more threes.

Keyondre Young recorded his sixth 20-point game of the season, tallying a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds. Bryce Kennedy matched Young's seven rebounds while delivering his fourth straight double-figure game with 18 points.

An early back-and-forth game gave way to the Patriots opening a 17-point lead with three minutes remaining in the first half behind their suffocating defense. However, a three-pointer from Marco Foster at the 2:38 mark turned the tides for the home team.

Oklahoma Christian held DBU scoreless for the final 1:51 of the first half, while scoring 15 unanswered points and making a game out of what moments earlier looked to be a runaway victory for the No. 10 team in the country to head into the locker room trailing only one, 51-50.

The rapid offensive barrage stopped with the halftime buzzer, unfortunately for OC, as the Eagles managed just seven total field-goals for the final 20 minutes of game action. Slowly but surely, DBU re-established its double-digit lead before seeing its largest lead of the game with 2:45 remaining in regulation, 90-71.

Oklahoma Christian (5-7, 2-5 LSC) will return to the road for the first time in a month when it makes the long trip south to Laredo, Texas, to take on Texas A&M International Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
