Eagle Men Suffer Heartbreaker Against TAMIU, 71-70

LAREDO, Texas - Marco Foster scored 28 points for the second time in 2025, but Oklahoma Christian fell late against Texas A&M International Thursday night, 71-70.

Thursday's contest featured 16 lead changes, including two in the final 10 seconds. The Eagles trailed by three points with 1:06 remaining in regulation and then took the lead with nine seconds remaining on a Miles Gibson layup off a Keyondre Young steal. Texas A&M International came back with a game-winning layup in the final few seconds as OC's shot at a game-winning layup trickled off.

Foster hit a season-high eight three-pointers on just 12 attempts while also recording 10 rebounds for his double-double of the season. Javon Grant did not miss a shot, scoring 14 points while hitting all three of his field-goal attempts and converting his eight free-throws.

The first 16 minutes of the game was back-and-forth until Oklahoma Christian closed the opening frame on an 8-0 run to carry a seven-point advantage into the locker room, 38-31. That lead grew to nine minutes into the second half.

Texas A&M International brought the game to a deadlock at 49-49 at the 12:21 mark before play saw three lead changes in the next three minutes before TAMIU held the edge for much of the final nine minutes of game time.

With the Dustdevils owning a three-point, 69-66 lead with 1:06 on the clock, Grant and Gibson scored the game's next four points as OC took its first lead with nine seconds remaining since the 9:56 mark, 70-69.

International came right down and used a back-door screen to quickly recapture the lead with five seconds left. After the Eagles got the ball in and head coach Kendre Talley used a timeout to advance the ball past half-court, a good look at the rim for Bryce Kennedy teetered off as TAMIU escaped with the 71-70 victory.

Oklahoma Christian (5-8, 2-6 LSC) will remain in southern Texas when it takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.
