EDMOND, Okla. - The Lady Eagles (5-5, LSC 2-4) hosted the No. 18 Patriots of UT Tyler (10-2, LSC 5-1) in the first game for both teams in the 2025 calendar year. The Lady Eagles and the Patriots were looking for a big win in the Lone Star Conference East Division. As the game tipped, both teams struggled to find their muscle memory from 2024; the Patriots battled through to find their footing in the second half to finish the road conference victory.
First Quarter - UT Tyler 10 - OC 8
The Lady Eagles struggled in the first few minutes to shake off the rust of Christmas Break, with the Patriots opening up the game on a 6-0 run.
Nikia Cullom opened the scoring for the Lady Eagles with a pull-up jumper, helping motivate the team to elevate its defensive play.
With the Lady Eagles being able to limit the Patriot's scoring, OC ended the opening quarter on a 6-0 run of their own to pull with a possession.
Second Quarter - UT Tyler 28 - OC 23
Both teams struggled to find a rhythm from long range, so the second quarter was a battle for leverage in the paint.
With her aggressive style of play, Taylor Jackson led the Lady Eagles to a late push before the half. OC scored eight points in the quarter and grabbed five rebounds; OC pulled with five and stayed within striking distance for the second half.
The two teams combined for 36 points in the paint, meaning 70% of all half-scoring came from just under the basket.
Third Quarter - UT Tyler 48 - OC 34
The rust left on the Patriots from the break fell off before coming into the third quarter, finding their range. Despite the early struggles, the Lady Eagles, led by Nakia Cullom's five points in the quarter, cut the lead, once as large as 18, to nine with the final ten left to play in the Nest.
The Lady Eagles, struggling to find anything from the three-point line, battled to find ways into the lane, pushing to draw fouls and hit clutch free throws.
Fourth Quarter - UT Tyler 70 - OC 50
The Lady Eagles struggled from deep as the Patriots began to dominate the game in the paint. Late in the game, they built a back-breaking 20-point lead. Finishing with 44 points in the paint, the Patriots would leave the Nest with their first win of 2025.
OC will get their revenge on the Patriots on the first of February when the two teams match up in Tyler, TX.

Nakia Cullom - the senior guard, found a spark midway through the third quarter to help the Lady Eagles battle. Finishing with 13 points and two rebounds.

Taylor Jackson finished with 12 points on 60% from the field and was fighting to grab eight rebounds.

Kate Bradley- Shooting a perfect 8-8 from the foul line, Bradley finished with eight points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Kendall Brown - Kendall gave OC a spark at the end of the third quarter, scoring three quick points for the Lady Eagles.

Ciara Harris - Coming off the bench, Harris provided 10 points with a perfect 8-8 from the foul line and grabbed four rebounds in her 27 minutes of play.
