EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (6-9, LSC 3-8) hosted St. Mary's (9-7, LSC 5-5) in the Nest on Saturday afternoon for the Lady Eagles' last home game of January, falling short in another second-half comeback, as the Rattlers walk away victorious, 59-51.
First Quarter St. Mary's 18 - OC 12Â
The Lady Eagles scored on their first possession, with Jordan Francisco making a strong move down low. However, the Rattlers quickly went on a 13-0 run that could not be stopped until Kate Bradley forced a Rattlers turnover and dropped a perfect dime to fellow senior Nakia Cullom.Â
Cullom continues to lead the Lady Eagles on a comeback, dropping seven in the first quarter and pulling within six at the end of the first ten minutes.Â
Second Quarter St. Mary's 32 - OC 21Â
St. Mary's continued to put tremendous pressure on the OC, which caused the home team to continue struggling to score.Â
The Rattlers went on another scoring run in the second quarter, broken finally by Bradley, powering through the paint for an old-fashioned three-point play late in the second quarter to keep the Lady Eagles within striking distance in the second half of play.
Third Quarter St. Mary's 40 - OC 30
Despite the Lady Eagles winning the turnover and points in the paint battle in the first half, the Rattlers ended up with 11 points, thanks mainly to their ability to knock down five threes as a team.Â
With that in mind, the Lady Eagles came out looking to change the game's flow. They started the third quarter on the run, holding the Rattlers to just two points in the first eight minutes of the half and pulling within a possession.Â
The Rattlers finished the quarter, putting up a few more buckets and extending their lead to ten to start the fourth quarter.Â
Fourth QuarterÂ
The Lady Eagles battled till the end, finding a way to get within three points of the Rattlers, but the pressure the Rattlers continued to put on the Lady Eagles was too much to come over; walking out of the Nest and handing the Lady Eagles another home lose.Â
