EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (6-8, LSC 3-7) hosted the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's (7-11, LSC 3-6) in a critical Lone Star Conference matchup. In a back-and-forth matchup that came down to the final minutes of play, the Hilltoppers outlasted the Lady Eagles in a 65-61 win.
First Quarter SEU 13 - OC 10
Both teams felt the weight of what a win tonight could mean for their seasons. They tipped off with a fast and furious desire to gain early control of the game.Â
The Hilltoppers from Austin, TX, found a way to pull out an early lead, but the Lady Eagles fought back to just a one-possession lead at the end of the first quarter.Â
The quarter's highlight came with a clutch 4-point play from Kate Bradley, draining a three while being fouled.
Second Quarter SEU 27 - OC 27
The Lady Eagles started the second frame off right with a spark. Freshman Ciara Harris drained a three, tying the game at 13.Â
The Hilltoppers charged out on another run to go up by seven.Â
However, the Lady Eagles' guard play took over massively, with Nakia Cullom, Bradley, and Harris leading OC on an 11-2 run to take a 2-point lead into the locker room.Â
Third Quarter SEU 45 - OC 48
Bradley and Harris synced up in a stellar 10 minutes of offensive, putting up a combined 19 points out of the locker room.Â
The Hilltoppers did not back down from the Lady Eagles' charge, keeping the game close and sending it into the final frame of play with just one possession separation.Â
Fourth Quarter SEU 65 - OC 61
St. Edward's broke out the huddle, nailing a few early buckets, taking the lead from the Lady Eagles to open the fourth quarter.
Despite incredible performances from Kate Bradley with yet another 19-point finish, Ciara Harris putting up another career-high night, and Nakia Cullom getting done on both ends of the floor, finishing with a double-double, the Hilltoppers fought through the adversity and came out victorious over the Lady Eagles.Â
