Foster Reaches Career Millennium Mark, Lifts Eagles to Win Over SEU

EDMOND, Okla. - Marco Foster scored 15 of his total 18 points in the second half, during which he eclipsed 1000 points for his college career, in an effort to lead Eagles back over the Hilltoppers. After overcoming a nine-point deficit late, Foster and Oklahoma Christian did just that, defeating St. Edward's inside the Payne Athletic Center Thursday evening, 74-71.

Along with Foster's big night, Jason Clark scored a game-high 21 points - matching his collegiate career-high - while going 6-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Between Foster and Clark, the duo went 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from beyond the arc, making all but one of OC's eight triples.

Oklahoma Christian (6-9, 3-7 LSC) shot 62.5 from three-point range through the first 20 minutes, including Clark's perfect 3-for-3 mark during that stretch, while SEU shot only 33.3 percent from deep, but made one more trey to keep things at a deadlock at intermission, 38-38.

Neither team held more than a six-point lead in the first frame as the game's first 20 minutes saw five lead changes. After OC held the six-point edge with 3:27 remaining in the opening half, the Hilltoppers closed on a 13-7 run to even things at 38.

St. Edward's opened the game's largest lead four and a half minutes into second-half action before holding the 55-46 advantage. Foster proceeded to take over the next four minutes of game action, scoring the next 12 points for Oklahoma Christian to tie things up at the 12:16 mark, 58-58.

Similar to the first part of the men's evening, neither team led by more than five points the rest of the way. With 5:50 remaining in regulation, with the game at an all-too familiar place of a tie, OC's defense held the Hilltoppers scoreless the rest of the game as Clark's go-ahead lay-up with 128 seconds remaining, plus a late free-throw to extend the lead to three, delivered Oklahoma Christian the victory.

The Eagles will remain in Edmond when league-leading St. Mary's comes to The Nest Saturday, Jan. 18 for a 3 p.m. tip.
