Offense Leads Way in High-Scoring Lone Star Conference Quarterfinal Before Falling to Rattlers, Await the NCAA Selection Show on Monday

Canyon, Texas - The 4th seed Oklahoma Christian Eagles opened the Lone Star Conference championship against the 5th seed, St. Mary's Rattlers, at Shaeffer Park on the campus of West Texas A&M University.

St. Mary's struck first, securing a 1-0 lead in the top of the first by crossing the plate on a wild pitch.

Aaliyah Brown and the Eagles bounced right back though, and after getting two runners (Kiley Brewster and Brooklin Bain) in scoring position, Brown drove them in with a two-RBI single to take a 2-1 lead.

STMU tied the game in the top of the second inning, on a two-out RBI single.

Brooklin Bain gave OC its second lead, scoring Kylie Janzen on an RBI triple.

A three-run top of the third put the Rattlers back on top, scoring the runs on a two-RBI double, and an RBI triple.

Kristen Whitehouse and Jill Dickson each drove in a run with a pair of RBI singles, tying the game at 5-5.

There was a slight break in the scoring in the fourth and fifth, but St. Mary's retook the lead in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run.

Bain kept the Eagles offense going, cutting the lead in half with a solo home run.

The Rattlers scored three more runs in the top of the seventh, and the Eagles threatened by loading the bases in the bottom half of the inning but fell to St. Mary's 10-6.
