Boulder City, NV - No. 9 Oklahoma Christian traveled to Las Vegas to play in the Desert Classic to begin their March tournaments.

Round 1 

The first round was originally scheduled to be played Sunday, but due to high winds and dust in the air, the tournament was changed to 36-hole Monday. 

OC took the early lead in round one but would then finish the round in solo third place shooting a 283 (-5). 

In round one Leandro Mihaich got off to a hot start, with a string of 4-straight birdies. Mihaich finished the back nine, 5-under. On the front nine, Mihaich went on another hot streak, playing three hole 4-under, this included an eagle on the par five hole five. Leandro would finish the round in solo first place, shooting a 66 (-6). 

Mihaich wasn't the only OC golfer to eagle the par five fifth, Vertti Perala knocked it in to get him back to even on the round. Perala would finish the round at even par 72 tied at 21st. Perala was joined by fellow Eagle, Oskari Nikku. 

Joey Lewis finished his first round tied for 31st at 73 (+1). Rounding out the OC line up was Exequiel Rodriguez, shooting a 74 (+2). 

Round 2 

The team continued to cruise shooting a 286 (-2) on the second round of the day and moved above Colorado Christian to take over solo second and are now just 4-shots back from Lincoln Memorial in first place. 

Oskari Nikku led the way for the Eagles, draining eight birdies and finishing with a 66 (-3). Nikku crawls all the way into the top of the leaderboard and sits at solo fourth. 

Leandro Mihaich stayed strong on the day finishing with a 73 (+1) to be tied at fifth. 

Exequiel Rodriguez shaved a few strokes off his first round score, finishing with a 71 (-1) and now sits tied for 25th. 

The Eagles were rounded out by Vertti Perala and Joey Lewis who are still set up well to make a run. Perala finished with a second round 76 (+4) and Lewis with a 79 (+7). 

Tournament Continues 

The Eagles will play their final round in Las Vegas Tuesday, looking to continue to close the gap and take over first place.
