Oklahoma City, Okla. - Head coach Shalee Rodriguez entered today's game one win away from career win no. 100, and she and her Eagles' earned win no. 100 and 101, with wins over Texas Woman's, in a doubleheader sweep that saw a walk-off home run and a no-hitter.
Game 2
A couple of fluky hits led to a four-run inning for the Pioneers to open the first game of the doubleheader.
The Eagles responded to the four-run inning by adding a run in the bottom half.
Brooklin Bain doubled to get things started, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Kiley Brewster, and was driven in on a
Kadence Brewster RBI groundout.
Kadence entered the circle for the Eagles in relief in the first inning and dealt 6 ⅔ scoreless innings, striking out five Pioneers along the way.
With Brewster dominating in the circle, Oklahoma Christian clawed back into the game, and cut into the lead again in the bottom of the third. Bain walked and stole second to open the inning and Ki. Brewster drove her in with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the fourth, OC added another run, albeit a little unluckily, as it looked like they tied the game, but the ball just got over the wall for a ground-rule double. The inning started with a
Whitney Walde single and a Bain walk, leading to the Ki. Brewster RBI ground-rule double, scoring Walde and leaving Bain at third.
Oklahoma Christian went into the bottom of the seventh trailing by one, and TWU entered their ace, Alyssa LeBlanc. Ki. Brewster welcomed her with a first pitch single up the middle and was moved to second base on a Ka. Brewster sacrifice bunt.
Aaliyah Brown drew a walk, bringing up the hero of game one,
Karsyn Iltis, who hit a walk-off RBI single last night. Iltis kept the magic going and crushed a ball over the left field wall for a walk-off three-run home run to earn win number 100 for Shalee Rodriguez.
Game 3
Game three saw one swing of offense and a dominant pitching performance in the circle for the Eagles.
Jill Dickson threw her first complete-game no-hitter of the season and the second of her career. It was also the second one she was a part of this year, as early in the season Dickson and
Haylee Monden combined for a no-hitter. All those added together make Dickson a part of the Eagles' last three no-hitters.
The one swing of offense was from the bat of
Brooklin Bain, who mashed a solo shot right over the center field wall, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the third inning that went on to be the difference.
Kadence Brewster,
Whitney Walde, and
Kristen Whitehouse each had two hits in the game.
Up Next
The Eagles will have a midweek non-conference doubleheader at No. 3 Rogers State, on Tuesday evening at 4 and 6 p.m.
