Eagles Take Game One Against Texas Woman’s in Extra Innings

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (22-14, 18-10) kicked off the home series against Texas Woman's (16-20, 14-11) with a gritty win heading into the weekend.

Game 1

A pitcher's duel through the first three innings was broken up in the bottom of the third when the Eagles got on the board with back-to-back triples to right field. The first was by Brooklin Bain, who was then driven in by Kiley Brewster a triple, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

The Pioneers responded with a run, but Jill Dickson continued her strong start and got out of the inning despite the bases being loaded. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the fourth.

Grace Anderson came in in relief and held TWU scoreless through the 7th inning. The Eagles went into the bottom of the 7th looking to walk it off. A Whitney Walde single through the left side put the winning run on base, but OC could not drive her in.

To open extra innings, Anderson sat down the Pioneers in order, setting up the Eagles' offense to close out the game in the bottom half of the inning.

In the bottom of the inning, Brooklin Bain drew the lead-off walk. Bain would then advance to second on the sacrifice bunt by Kiley Brewster. Kadence Brewster followed that up with a double down the left line putting Bain in scoring position at third base.

The Pioneers intentionally walked Aaliyah Brown, putting the game in the hands of Karsyn Illtis. The designated player would deliver with a walk-off single through the right side giving the Eagles the 2-1 victory.
