Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (6-25, 6-23) hosted St. Edward's (14-16, 14-15) for the first game of the four-game series on Thursday evening.
Game 1
Will Rodman got the start to open the series, and held St. Edward's scoreless in the top of first.
Hank Heiselbetz led off the bottom half of the inning with a walk, and Sloan Laird doubled off the left-center field wall, pushing Heiselbetz to third.
Hunter Jones put the Eagles on the board first with an RBI groundout, scoring Heiselbetz, and
Justin Spencer followed that up with a two-run bomb with two outs, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
Rodman pitched another scoreless frame in the top of the second. Jadan Boyce singled to right field to lead off the inning and stole second to put a runner in scoring position for OC. Heiselbetz drew his second walk of the day, and Sloan Laird reached second on a two-base error, scoring Boyce and Heiselbetz, extending Oklahoma Christian's lead to 5-0.
After another scoreless inning on the defensive side, Reed Carroll and Johnny Behm walked to lead off the inning, Carroll stole third base, and Boyce doubled to left-center, scoring Carroll, and giving OC a 6-0 lead.
Ferris pulled off a suicide squeeze to Bring Behm home from 3rd, andHank Heiselbetz drove in Ferris on an RBI double off the left-field wall to give OC an 8-0 lead after three innings.
The Hilltoppers got on the board in the top of the fourth, scoring on a two-run home run and a solo shot to cut the lead to 8-3.
Ethan Box doubled off the right-center field wall, in the bottom of the frame, but the Eagles didn't have anything else going, and took their 8-3 lead in the fifth inning.
St. Edward's scored eight runs in the top of the fifth, in an inning that saw ten consecutive Hilltoppers reach base, giving them an 11-8 lead.
SEU put up one run in the top of the seventh and ninth and held on to win 13-8.

The Eagles will look to bounce back in a Friday doubleheader against St. Edward's tomorrow, with the first game beginning at 2 p.m. and the second game starting at 5 p.m.
